I have a USI Electric Smoke & Fire + Carbon Monoxide Alarm. It is a 10 year permanent power/battery backup. It only made it three years. I contacted the company about the warranty and they sent me the manual troubleshooting and resetting. If that doesn't work, they want me to pay to ship the detector back to them along with an $11 check for shipping so they can send me a replacement. So I have to spend $22 in shipping for a replacement that will most likely last 3 out of the 10 years.

These detectors are garbage in my opinion and the customer service is a joke. They found my email in their spam folder even though I filled out the contact info and issue on their website form. Buyer beware! Go with a more reputable company and brand which is also less expensive.

Universal security instruments will not replace a faulty gas/co2 detector. The unit burned. I showed them evidence of the burning on the unit and they refused to replace it.
